Vitamin B: A Superhero Without a Cape

If there was one single vitamin that we could label a superhero, it would have to be vitamin B. Although it’s made up of a variety of different B vitamins, when you put them all together they are a powerhouse! Symptoms such as depression, anxiety, hostility, unexplainable fear, and even outright rage can show up when there aren’t enough of them in the body. In children, deficiencies may show up as emotional instability and can often be corrected with a quality vitamin B supplement to soften their attitude and improve behavior.

Another sign of a vitamin B deficiency is heart disease. Without adequate B vitamins, the heart can become weak, the valves get leaky, arrhythmias can occur, heart rate can go up and we end up with swollen legs, fatigue and shortness of breath. All because of this missing superstar vitamin.

But be careful: not all B vitamins are the same. Despite the fancy packaging and the abundant misinformation found on Dr. Google, most of the B vitamins found on store shelves are synthetic and do not contain specific nutrients the body needs to overcome a deficiency. Vitamins are supposed to be found in food. But the supplement industry isn’t as interested in protecting the delicate nutrients in food as they are in turning a profit. So, in order to meet consumer demand for these types of vitamins, look-alike, synthetic compounds are created from white crystalline powders. Sadly, the FDA acknowledges these as being the same thing found in our food. But your body knows the difference!

Instead of beta blockers, blood pressure medications or diuretics, consider adding a food-based B vitamin to your daily regime. If you did nothing else but simply increase the amount of whole-food B’s, you’ll notice significant changes in your overall health! If you’re ready to take the vitamin B challenge, we’d be happy to recommend a whole-food B complex that is made from food and will begin to feed and nourish your body in the way only mother nature can.
